Cairo or Sharm El Sheikh — which Egypt trip suits you?

Most travellers asking this question are really asking a simpler one: do I want to be moved, or do I want to rest? Egypt does both extremely well, but not in the same place.

Choose Cairo if

• The pyramids and the Egyptian Museum are the reason you are going
• You enjoy dense, noisy, historic cities
• You want guided days with a clear itinerary

Choose Sharm El Sheikh if

• You want the Red Sea, snorkelling or diving
• You are travelling with children who need pool time
• You want a slower, resort-based week

The honest answer for a first visit is usually both. Cairo rewards a few intense days; the Red Sea is where you recover from them.

Doing both

Our Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh programme runs eleven days in that order: the historic sites around Cairo and the Khan El Khalili souk first, then seven nights all inclusive on the Red Sea.
